Project description

The non-profit organisation CAW DELTA is a General Welfare Centre (GWC), accredited by the Welfare Ministry, with branches in Lennik, Dilbeek and Ninove, and satellite units in Ternat, Herne and Merchtem. A staff of approximately 45 multidisciplinary workers provide frontline assistance to a range of target groups (adults, young people, divorcees, underprivileged, etc.).

The GWC is an autonomous organisation and the help it provides is voluntary. The GWC guarantees the person seeking assistance basic safety, confidentiality and anonymity. People are given support in their own skills areas to resolve problems or, if necessary, to call on other services. For that purpose, the GWC provides a first line of assistance and relief, as well as various forms of psychosocial counselling.

In 2000, a premises was purchased in Ninove and refurbished with VIPA subsidies (Flemish Infrastructure for Personal Opportunities).

The province of Flemish Brabant is now donating a plot of building land on a long lease to us, at the front, on the street side at the PIVO site in Zellik/Asse. A new building is intended for this site to accommodate about 25 staff, the majority of whom are help-providers. There is a need for sufficient space designed to provide privacy, offices, a large meeting room, an eating area and an easily accessible reception area. A child-friendly visiting area, with a kitchenette and secure access to a garden also need to be incorporated into the project.

It is important to make our GWC clearly visible and identifiable at the site as an independent assistance organisation. The GWC building must have easy access: be inviting to go into and with a guarantee of the necessary discretion.

Having an efficient layout for the centre should not stand in the way of providing a certain level of homeliness.
