A new and renewed Open Call
Open Call 48 has been published. Through this renewed Open Call, we want to continue our commitment to building an architectural culture by giving both young designers and established firms the opportunity to realise a public commission. Therefore, we have once again made the threshold to apply for a public commission as low as possible. Read more about the new Open Call procedure in the booklet.
Five new projects
You can apply for five new projects. Applications will be open until 11am on Thursday 14 November 2024. The first selections will be announced in February 2025. In the selection guide of each project you will find all the information you need to apply. Please take this into account when applying.
As always, you can view the projects online and download the booklet containing all the project information. For each project, you will also find the selection guide containing all the specific information you need to apply.
Renewed way of applying
What will change for you?
- You enter your application via the new My Open Call module. You can no longer upload a portfolio.
- To participate in the Open Call, you must meet the ‘conditions for selection’. The information you need to provide for this purpose, you will have to upload in your profile. This information identifies your agency and shows that you are active as a designer. This includes the European Single Procurement Document (ESPD), proof documents concerning social, tax and financial obligations (only for non-Belgian agencies), any proof of professional orders and three projects from your own practice. This administrative information must be submitted, but will not be assessed in terms of content.
- You can then apply for one or more projects. In order to do this, you enter the information under ‘selection restriction’. The information submitted for this purpose is specific to each project and thus specific to your application. It includes the form of application (agency or temporary partnership), the memo ‘ambition for the assignment’ and three specific references tailored to the ambitions of the project for which you are applying. Based on the quality of this information, the selection restriction will be implemented.
- An important change in the Open Call procedure is that the team composition will only be assessed at the award phase. This means that the evaluation of the applications and the restrictive selection to four or five candidates will only consider the design agencies. Supporting expertise (techniques, acoustics, participation…) is not included in this phase of the assessment. So there is no point in applying in a team with supporting expertise. After having received the complete project file, you will put together your multidisciplinary team with partners and subcontractors in order to draw up an integrated tender.
