De Plataan primary school is located in a residential district in the north of Roeselare. After the existing infants’ block has been demolished at the site, a new building needs to be erected. There can be 810 m² of new build that needs to accommodate the infants’ school, as well as some classrooms for the primary school, staffroom, management and secretariat, plus 80 m² for physical education. In the grounds, which are surrounded by pollarded plane trees, there are another two freestanding buildings: one recent building with the school canteen and kitchen, and one older building for the lower school. The site does not have a lot more space to offer. An intelligent approach and long-term vision are required.
