Willebroek - Speelplein Willebroek

Project description
The municipality of Willebroek would like to build infrastructure specifically for the municipal summer
playground programme. The site for this project is located in a neighbourhood managed by the social housing
company in Blaasveld. The new building will have to take into consideration the surrounding residential
neighbourhood and the proximity of ‘Het Broek’ nature reserve.
The designer’s first priority will be to develop a vision for a pleasant, safe recreational site for children. It must
become infrastructure in which children will feel safe, be stimulated in their creative development and be given
opportunities to play.
The project must facilitate the organization of the summer programme. Playing children, activity leaders and
concerned parents should all feel comfortable in the new project.
As such, the infrastructure will have to meet the wishes and potential of its young users. Social interaction,
supervision, play and recreational activities will be the key concepts for the design of this building. The summer
programme also requires facilities for indoor play, crafts, storage space, meeting rooms, bathrooms and dining
hall/kitchen.
From a community perspective, the building must also provide local residents a place to develop skills and to
interact socially. As such, cooperation/integration with the nearby non-profit ‘t Moleken (playground) will be
essential.
