Resultaten kandidatuurstelling Open Oproep 51

The submission period for Open Call 51 closed on Friday 24 April 2026 at 11am. We received 259 submissions for 6 projects. A total of 284 design firms are participating in Open Call 51. 

Number of participating firms

A total of 284 design firms, including 195 Belgian and 89 foreign firms, submitted applications for one or more projects. The foreign firms are from the Netherlands (26), the United Kingdom (17), France (13), Italy (9), Spain (8), Germany (6), Sweden (4), Denmark (2), Japan (1), Portugal (1), Poland (1) and Switzerland (1).

Open Call 51 comprises six projects. In total, we received no fewer than 259 applications for these six design commissions, of which 137 were from temporary partnerships and 122 from individual firms.

•    5101 – Dendermonde - Redevelopment of social housing complex: 64 applications
•    5102 – Herentals - City Reception Hall: 78 applications
•    5103 – Nieuwpoort - Entrance area and beach building: 51 applications
•    5104 – Bonheiden – Redesign of village centre: 22 applications
•    5105 – Ostend – Parc Royal master @plan: 25 applications
•    5106 – Halle – station area master plan: 19 applications

Next steps

We are currently carrying out an administrative review of the entries and compiling a list of the selected firms. In the meantime, preparations for the shortlisting process have already begun, with the Flemish Chief Architect and the client identifying four design teams per project to be invited to submit a tender. The first results of this process will be announced from June 2026.
