Candidacy for Open Call 49 closed on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11 am. We received 456 applications for 9 projects. A total of 328 design firms are participating in Open Call 49.

The 49th edition of the Open Call counts nine projects: one assignment for the construction of public space, two healthcare projects, two social housing projects, two assignments for municipal administrative services and two sports infrastructure projects with a heritage value. In total, we received no fewer than 456 applications for these nine design assignments, 173 of which came from a temporary partnership and 283 from an individual firm. A total of 328 design firms, including 231 Belgian and 97 foreign firms, applied for one or more projects

  • 4901 - Leuven, Kessel-Lo node: 27 candidacies
  • 4902 - Zemst, residential care center Releghem: 79 candidatures
  • 4903 - Nijlen, Iona care home: 50 applications
  • 4904 - Hasselt, Social housing Banneuxwijk: 43 candidatures
  • 4905 - Hasselt, Social housing Quartier Bleu: 16 applications
  • 4906 - Heist-op-den-Berg, Administrative center and town square: 60 candidatures
  • 4907 - Retie, Town hall and park: 56 candidatures
  • 4908 - Beringen, Mine stadium: 40 candidatures
  • 4909 - Knokke-Heist, Stadium De Taeye: 43 applications

We are currently conducting the administrative review of the applications and listing the selected offices. Meanwhile, preparations are already underway for the pre-selection, in which the Flemish Government Architect and the client appoint four design teams per project that will be invited to submit a bid. The first results will be announced in July.
