Project description

This lock, which was first used in 1905, was recently thoroughly renovated. Now this work has been completed,

the Flemish government would also like to redesign the surroundings.

One thing that deserves special mention is a monument on Sluisplein, which takes the form of the bows of 'The

Vindictive', an English ship that was sunk during the war. This monument is somewhat lost in its surroundings

and is mainly popular with British tourists.
